We’ve been asking the team behind Fragments to share a memory that a special object holds for them.
This little book holds a very special place in Katie’s heart. It belonged to her Grandpa, who sadly passed away a few years ago. It is full of wonderful little poems for children to enjoy, from a time when life was simpler. Katie remembers when she first discovered this book with her Grandpa and he read her his favourite poem from it. She quickly took the book away and memorised the poem. This is one of Katie’s first memories of learning lines, which she then performed to her audience of one. Katie stood in the lounge of her Grandparents house and recited the poem to her Grandpa. The next time Katie came to recite this poem was many years later. She stood, with her sister by her side as they read the poem together at her Grandpa’s funeral.
